How plan changes work

  • Individual Pro: upgrade or cancel anytime; downgrade keeps paid access until the billing period ends.
  • School plans: annual licenses paid up-front by card or invoice/PO. Renewals are reviewed at the end of each annual term.
  • Add seats mid-term at the per-seat overage rate listed on each school plan.

Common Questions

Can I use SmileCharts without paying?

Yes. The free plan includes up to 1 student with full daily tracking, parent portal, and AI translations. No credit card required.

Can I change plans later?

Absolutely. Upgrade, downgrade, or cancel anytime from your Settings page. When you downgrade, you keep access until the end of your billing period.

What happens to my data if I downgrade?

Your data is always safe. If you exceed the free tier limits after downgrading, you can still view existing data but cannot add new students beyond the limit.

Can I try Pro for free?

Yes! Every new account gets a free 14-day Pro trial. No credit card required.

What happens after my trial ends?

You'll automatically move to the Free plan. Your data is never deleted. Upgrade anytime to regain access to Pro features.

Is SmileCharts FERPA compliant?

SmileCharts is designed for FERPA-conscious student-support workflows. Schools remain responsible for their own FERPA obligations, and SmileCharts supports those workflows with role-based access, parent visibility controls, audit logging, data export/delete workflows, and signed DPAs where appropriate. Can a district pilot SmileCharts before buying?

Yes. Districts can run a structured pilot with a small group of teachers, SPED coordinators, or MTSS leads before committing to a full deployment. Email schools@smilecharts.com to set one up.
